Internship reflection

My time at Rix Inclusive Research was a meaningful and eye-opening experience that helped me grow both academically and personally.

During my time with the organisation, I had the opportunity to work closely with data on people with learning disabilities, engaging with research that truly matters.

One of the main aspects of my role involved using SPSS to analyse survey data. This hands-on experience strengthened my understanding of statistical software and gave me a much deeper appreciation for the complexities and nuances  involved in working with real-world data. Through this work, I was able to see how data analysis plays a key role in shaping inclusive policies and better understanding the lived experiences of individuals with learning disabilities.

In addition to the technical work, I spent time researching and writing about topics related to learning disabilities. This allowed me to dive deeper into academic literature and current discussions in the field and helped me improve my research and writing skills. I appreciated the opportunity to work independently while still feeling supported by the team.

One of the things that stood out to me most during my time at RIX was the relaxed and welcoming work environment. Every single person I worked with was incredibly kind, approachable, and genuinely passionate about the work they do. The flexible scheduling also made it easy to balance my responsibilities with other commitments, which I truly valued.
