Ajay Choksi and Kate Allen travelled to Cardiff to co-present the purpleSTARS inclusive research project, Something New | Newid Byd, to the Museum of Wales annual research symposium.
We co-presented with project research assistants Steedley Wills and Aaron Barton, with Zoe Mouti from Innovate Trust, and Sioned Williams, Principal Curator from St Fagan’s Museum.
Our one-year project is called Newid Byd – this means Something New in English – and is funded by UKRI and delivered by Mindset + Missions, to support museums to engage underrepresented groups.
Our presentation shared the purpleSTARS Action Research process for inclusive museums that we have followed during the project.
We shared the work in progress production stage of our process developing three sensory interactives which we have created in response to our Sensory Expeditions of the Life Is…Gallery at St Fagans Museum.
We finished with a slide inviting everyone to join us at St Fagans Museum Cardiff on Thursday 11 July from 11am for our museum take over, where we will be launching a Tactile Quilt, Sensory Treasure Belts and the chance to join in with our Role Play Quest, Operation Dragon.
