RIX video editing project

Our new video editing group recently completed their first commission, the production of four short videos for Network 4 and ECER.

Network 4 is the inclusive education network within ECER, the European Conference on Educational Research. ECER is part of EERA, the European Educational Research Association.

The aim of the ‘European Conference on Educational Research’ is to create an inclusive platform for initiating, reporting, discussing and promoting high quality educational research, that not only acknowledges its own context but also recognises wider, transnational contexts with their social, cultural and political similarities and differences.

We were given the job of editing down a series of talking head videos in which people reflected on their experience of ECER, how the conference had influenced their work as researchers, and how they would like to see it develop.

Our video group attended weekly workshops at the RIX office in the Royal Docks Centre for Sustainability and, over eight sessions, learnt about video editing using Final Cut Pro, how to select clips from unedited footage, how to improve audio quality and how to design the ‘look’ of the videos.

We enjoyed learning about the different cities that have hosted ECER over the last 20+ years

We hope this will be the first of many projects we work on together, giving people the chance to develop and share their skills in an inclusive environment whilst taking on meaningful employment.
